Jio Impact: BSNL Offers 300 GB Data, Partial Free Calls At Rs. 249
BSNL is offering up to 300 GB of internet at a speed of 2 Mbps in a broadband plan priced at Rs. 249. The aggressive entry of Reliance Jio has led to a tariff war across India’s telecom sector. In its “BB Unlimited 249” plan, BSNL is enabling its customers to download unlimited broadband data by paying “just Rs. 249″ monthly” for up to 300 GB of data every month, the state-run telecom operator said on its website. BSNL’s unlimited broadband at Rs. 249 plan comes with a daily limit of 10 GB at 2 Mbps, beyond which speed will be reduced to 1 Mbps, a customer care executive told NDTV Profit.
The BSNL plan has a monthly limit of 300 GB at 2 Mbps. In case a user consumes less than 10 GB of internet in a day, the remainder will be carried forward to the 10 GB limit the next day, the BSNL customer care executive said. After a user exhausts the 10 GB daily limit of 2 Mbps, the speed will be reduced to 1 Mbps, she further said.
BSNL’s Rs. 249 scheme offers unlimited download and upload with no monthly limits. The plan can be purchased with a security deposit of one month charges with a “minimum hire period” of one month, the BSNL website said.
The Rs. 249 plan also includes “unlimited free calls between 9 PM to 7 AM and on all Sundays to any network in India” at no additional fixed monthly charges, it added.
The BSNL Unlimited Rs. 249 broadband plan will be available to new customers in all circles except J&K and Andaman & Nicobar, as per the BSNL website. This monthly charge of Rs. 249 will be applied for the first six months, after which the “plan shall be converted to ‘BBG Combo ULD 499’ plan”, the website noted.
